It might be an unpopular opinion, but I normally despise this trend of VRMMO/isekai-adjacent anime. It’s only so many stories about a “regular” guy who dies and is reborn in a dating game or MMORPG. It’s not unfair, I’m just tired of pretending that they aren’t. This season, however, brings us some fresh takes on an old trope. Shangri-La Frontier (19459005) is a great game if you feel that the genre lacks accurate representation of gamers. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endis a great game for those who like to think about death. If you enjoy lo-fi lets’ plays for study/relaxation, The Playthrough of A Certain Dude’s Life in a VRMMOis a great choice.

You might be thinking that it’s a basic VRMMO show with wish fulfillment. As of this writing, there is only one episode available. I cannot really refute those claims. What I can tell you is that the series is a let’s-play of a low tier VRMMORPG, while at the same time educating viewers about economic concepts. A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life is a gaming show that offers an unlikely escape.

In A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life, gamers are able to escape the everyday grind.

In A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life, Tanaka Taichi follows a man in his mid-twenties who enjoys playing games, but has to limit their time due to a Sounds familiar? He decides to play Another Free Life Onlinewhich is the least-committal of all MMOs. Because he cannot play during peak times, he chooses the unpopular skills and capabilities so that he won’t be expected to party up with anyone else.

The series then uses Taichi’s internal monologue to show and tell viewers about what he is doing, as if it were a streamer or let’s-player elaborating on his audience. This aspect may have kept me interested when I normally would’ve dropped the show.

Future episodes will not be as dramatic, with Taichi having to use a secret arcane ability or something like that. The rest of the season, I think, will be more mundane and focused on the game One More Free Life Online ( ).

He decides to learn potion-making just before an update that will prevent players from buying potions at NPC shops. This causes a panic in the system. Taichi, having mastered potion making, decides to be the new potions supplier. This earns him praise from the players much to his dismay.

As I have not seen the original material, I cannot comment on the overall quality of the series. However, if this episode is anything like the previous one, it might be worth watching.
