Hi everybody! My name is Keturah AllgoodI expect if I needed to sum myself up in a couple of words, I would state that I am a Soulful Americana troubadour. I compose the tunes, play the tunes, sing the tunes, and hope that the music will bring you some sort of peace in this awfully disorderly world. I reside in the mountains of Western North Carolina with my fiancé, my mother, my guitars, and keyboards. I reside in your home I matured in and my studio remains in my old bed room filled with lots of records and a huge CD collection that I definitely decline to eliminate.

Inform us about your brand-new album Shine, and the motivation behind it.

Shine was a record that I composed to ideally bring some peace and recovery to an afraid and disorderly world. I wished to highlight love and empathy. I think that the easy act of generosity and being excellent to one another has the capability to alter the world.

I seem like the album truly takes the listener on a journey into my heart.

What was the songwriting and recording procedure?

The songwriting procedure is constantly various. A few of the tunes on this album I composed in 30 minutes, and some, like “Down the Line,” for example, took years. I think that specific tune took me about 18 years to end up. I believe I required to live a little bit more prior to I might find out precisely what I wished to state. The album was taped at Omni Sound Studios in Nashville, TN, produced by William Gawley and co-produced by Pat McGrath. We taped throughout the pandemic in August of 2020. I had a fantastic group of artists mostly due to the truth that they were doing session work rather of exploring throughout Covid. Whatever was taped in Nashville other than for the support vocals which I chose to reclaim house with me and record with Brad Rudolph at Falling Waters Studio in Pisgah Forest, NC. I had my buddy and fellow artist Carrie Morrison provide her angelic voice to most of the consistency vocals, and after that I trapped my duo partner and music director Bradford Carson to assist with the rest. I seem like the album actually takes the listener on a journey into my heart.

What do you hope your fans/listeners remove with them when they listen to your music?

My genuine hope is that individuals will listen to the words and think that we truly do have the power within us to produce a much better world. There are tunes like “Sing, Baby, Sing” where I hope individuals discover motivation and understand that no matter what they are informed by individuals who simply wish to keep them down that they deserve caring themselves enough to think they can attain their dreams. The title track “Shine” merely mentions that “light triumph over darkness whenever.” I expect if there were one message I would desire this album to communicate, it would be that there is constantly hope which love is the supreme response.

When did you initially get guitar, and what drew you to that instrument?

I’ve been playing guitar considering that I was really young. I should have been possibly 7 or 8 when I got my very first genuine guitar. My daddy played guitar and was my very first instructor. I believe the very first tune he taught me was “Last Kiss.” It’s that awful tune about 2 young fans and a dreadful cars and truck mishap. It’s a terrible story however the tune is stunning. I truly didn’t take guitar seriously till I had to do with 15. Even then, I would simply go to my guitar instructor and make him reveal me how to play the tunes that I was composing in my head. I never ever actually found out how to effectively play. I play a great deal of partial chords and do strange things that drive my bandmates insane. It works for me, nevertheless, and despite the fact that a part of me wants I had actually been more disciplined and forced myself to find out the more conventional method, I am quite pleased with where this uneven roadway has actually taken me.

Who are a few of your musical impacts?

I truly enjoy early blues artists like Ma Rainy and Bessie Smith. Gospel powerhouses like Mahalia Jackson and Vestal Goldman. Those females truly offered me a sense of how to sing from the gut. Songwriters like Ferron and Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, and the Indigo Girls truly turned me on with their words. Presently, I’ve been jamming to Joy Oladokun and Valerie June. I’m likewise eagerly anticipating hearing Lucinda Williams’s brand-new record. The 3 tracks I have actually heard up until now are amazing. She simply blows me away with her persistence.

What’s next?

I am heading out on the roadway in assistance of this record, and I currently have another album on my mind. It’s been 17 years in between the release of my very first record and my 2nd one, so I aspire to simply keep putting the music out there!
